Bill Davis has often stated that his preference is not to blitz too much as long as he can get a good pass rush with four guys. And therein lies the question: Can they get good enough pressure on the quarterback when only sending four rushers?
According to Pro Football Focus, the Eagles blitzed 31.6% of the time when opponents passed the ball in 2014. That was 14th most in the NFL. However, that was actually down from 2013 when they blitzed 36.4% of the time, good for seventh-most in the league.
Therefore, Davis trended in his preferred direction of blitzing less.
