Free Agency Preview: Running Backs

Heading into last offseason, not many people would have thought the Eagles were going to be big buyers at the running back position when free agency hit. LeSean McCoy had established himself as the franchise’s all-time leading rusher and Darren Sproles was coming off of a strong first season in Philadelphia. But when McCoy was traded to Buffalo in exchange for Kiko Alonso, the Eagles needed to fill a hole at the position.

To do so, the Eagles signed both DeMarco Murray and Ryan Mathews to multi-year contracts on the very same day.
