Evan Mathis continues to sit out voluntary Eagles workouts this spring as he seeks a new contract.
The Pro Bowl guard was not present for the start of organized team activities (OTAs) on Tuesday, NFL sources said. OTAs mark the next phase of spring workouts as teams are permitted to engage in on-field drills that involve both offense and defense.
The Eagles will conduct their ten OTAs over the next three weeks before minicamp on June 16-18. Minicamp is mandatory. If Mathis were to skip those practices he would risk being fined by the Eagles. The same would hold true if he were to stay home when training camp opens in early August.
