Early Birds: Who covered Jordan Reed?; Bill Davis' job security; 2016 schedule

1) Last week, Malcolm Jenkins sounded like he thought he would cover Washington tight end Jordan Reed in Saturday’s game. So it was a surprise to see that Jenkins did not cover Reed during Reed’s two first-quarter touchdowns in the Eagles’ 38-24 loss.

“The play calls didn’t put me on him,” Jenkins said. “Whatever reason, that matchup, I didn’t get that until later in the game. But obviously, some of the matchup was already won.”

Jenkins said the game plan called for him or Walter Thurmond to cover Reed for most of the game. On Reed’s first of two touchdowns, the Eagles played a zone in which DeMeco Ryans appeared to hand Reed over to Ed Reynolds.
