The Philadelphia Eagles waived/injured undrafted rookie tight end McCallen Castles on Saturday, according to an official team announcement.
Castles will revert to the Eagles’ season-ending injured reserve list if he passes through waivers unclaimed. It’s possible he could eventually be released from IR with an injury settlement.
This news is obviously pretty unfortunate for Castles, who had shown some pass-catching ability early in camp. There was some thought he might be able to push for the third tight end spot behind Dallas Goedert and Grant Calcaterra. Or at least make his way onto the practice squad.
