The Eagles signed offensive lineman Barrett Jones off the Chicago Bears practice squad and released veteran Julian Vandervelde, who has been in and out of Philadelphia throughout his career.
In Jones, the Eagles get a former Alabama all-American with the versatility to play guard and center. Jones, who is 6-foot-4 and 308 pounds, was a 2013 fourth-round pick by the St. Louis Rams. He played at Alabama for offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland, and his time with the Crimson Tide overlapped with Eagles vice president of player personnel Ed Marynowitz's time with the school.
The Eagles also signed linebacker Brandon Hepburn and cornerback Mike Lee to the practice squad.
