The Philadelphia Eagles announced some more roster news on Monday. The team officially signed free agent safety Blake Countess and waived/injured safety Obi Melifonwu.
Countess, 27, is back for his fourth stint in Philly. The Eagles originally selected him in the sixth round of the 2016 NFL Draft but he didn’t play a regular season snap with the Birds until Week 17 last season. Countess was signed to a futures contract shortly after the 2020 campaign but was then released in early March.
In addition to having experience with the Eagles, Countess also has familiarity with Philadelphia defensive backs coach Dennard Wilson.
