DETROIT - The Eagles completed an unlikely trifecta on Thursday as they lost for the third straight game during a stretch against supposedly weak opponents that was intended to be the launching pad for a late-season return to contention.
On Thanksgiving against the Lions, as had been the case against Miami and Tampa Bay, the Eagles again failed to achieve liftoff and, after being embarrassed, 45-14, their season is irretrievably ruined. At 4-7, they can no longer match the two 10-6 seasons that began Chip Kelly's tenure as head coach.
