Chip Kelly is comfortable with starting safeties Malcolm Jenkins and Walter Thurmond, but he has not determined who will be their backups this season. With employment on the line Thursday in the preseason finale against the New York Jets, safety is one position in which the depth remains unsettled for the Eagles.
"I still think we've got to figure out who our third and fourth safeties are," Kelly said." It's still a big question mark."
Chris Maragos, Chris Prosinski, Jerome Couplin, and Ed Reynolds are the backups. Maragos is a key special-teams contributor who will make the team.
