After the Eagles traded Brandon Boykin, Chip Kelly said one player who would not practice as a slot cornerback - at least initially - was Eric Rowe, the team's second-round draft choice.
But after JaCorey Shepherd tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee on Sunday, those plans changed. Rowe was notified on Tuesday morning by defensive backs coach Cory Undlin that he would play the slot this week. And during training camp practice Tuesday, Rowe was the second-team nickel cornerback behind Jaylen Watkins.
"The initial plan was always to use corners [inside]," Kelly said. "So we were going to move Eric anyway and find out who the best option was.
