Eagles' loss is claws and effect

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Eagles did a good job of maintaining the illusion that they just might come back and win Sunday night, but they never quite got the Carolina Panthers to buy it.

The Panthers dominated along both lines of scrimmage; three Cam Newton interceptions helped keep the game from becoming a rout.

The Birds limp into the bye a 3-4 team, which is exactly what they looked like in a 27-16 loss that never felt quite that close. The host Panthers had rushed for 199 yards on 30 carries with three minutes left.
