Eagles find things turn gloomy in a hurry

A bright and sunny day had the cheeriest of starts for the Eagles Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field. The late arrivals had barely settled into their seats when Walter Thurmond laid a vicious blindside hit on Miami quarterback Ryan Tannehill, forcing the football into the air and out of the end zone.

The safety made it 9-3 Eagles and when Ryan Mathews scored on the ensuing possession, it appeared as if this was going to be one of those rare NFL laughers for the home team.

As it turned out, there was nothing funny at all about this day for the Eagles.
