The day has finally come.
The Philadelphia Eagles are waiving Wendell Smallwood, according to a report from NFL insider Ian Rapoport.
There was some thought the Eagles might keep Smallwood as a fifth running back on the 53-man roster but there was really no need to do that. Smallwood is a replacement level talent at best. It was time to move on.
With Josh Adams and now Smallwood gone, the Eagles are going into 2019 without both of their top two leading rushers from last year. The duo combined for 875 yards in 2018.
