LANDOVER, Md. – Fletcher Cox scooped the dribbling ball and ran 20 yards into the end zone, ready to show off his touchdown celebration and prepare Philadelphia for a blissful week after a 30-17 season-opening win over the Washington Redskins.
Cox recovered a Kirk Cousins fumble after Brandon Graham knocked the ball out of the grasp of Washington’s quarterback while the Redskins tried to engineer a fourth-quarter comeback in the final two minutes. Instead, it was the Eagles’ menacing defense that deserved to celebrate. Jim Schwartz’s unit dominated Washington for most of the afternoon, allowing only 10 points and forcing three turnovers.
