Eagles cut veteran tight end, re-sign offensive lineman

The Philadelphia Eagles released veteran tight end C.J. Uzomah and re-signed interior offensive lineman Jason Poe, according to an official team announcement.

Uzomah’s departure comes as no surprise; he mostly struggled in training camp practices and the preseason games. BGN’s Jonny Page wrote the following just the other day:

Sadly, the play didn’t end well (as it didn’t last year), and C.J. Uzomah struggled to contain the Patriots’ EDGE defender. I have not been impressed with Uzomah at all this preseason, and he has struggled with blocking in the run game.

Blocking was part of Uzomah’s theoretical appeal as a tight end listed at 6’6”, 275 pounds.
