The Philadelphia Eagles claimed former San Francisco 49ers safety Godwin Igwebuike off waivers, according to an official announcement from the team.
Igwebuike, 24, measures in at 6-0, 212 pounds. He originally signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted rookie free agent last year. The Northwestern alumnus spent time on the Bucs’ practice squad before being promoted to their active roster in November. He was waived a couple weeks later and claimed by the 49ers. San Francisco then cut Igwebuike yesterday.
The Eagles left the 2019 NFL Draft without selecting a safety so they can afford to add more depth at that spot.
