The Eagles’ roster tweaking continued Sunday when the team signed wide receiver and returner Rashard Davis, an undrafted rookie from James Madison, and released corner Mitchell White.
White is 27 and would have had to really stand out to make the team. He looked pretty good near the line, not so good down the field in practice, though he was a star in the Canadian Football League.
Davis, 5-9, 180, had rookie-camp tryouts with the Bears and Jets as a punt returner. Behind Darren Sproles, the Eagles might feel they could use some punt-return expertise; Donnel Pumphrey and Greg Ward both struggled with fielding the ball in last Thursday’s preseason opener.
