UNTIL THIS week, when ESPN's Ed Werder correctly reported that the Eagles are considering making him the starting right tackle if/when Lane Johnson begins serving his long-awaited 10-game PED suspension, you hadn't heard or read much about Halapoulivaati Vaitai.
There were a couple of reasons for that. One is that his name is really hard to spell and even harder to pronounce.
The other more significant one was that there really wasn't a good reason to mention him.
He was a fifth-round draft pick from a Big 12 spread offense (TCU) who struggled mightily in the spring and summer trying to make the transition to Doug Pederson's West Coast hybrid.
