PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Reports surfaced on Thursday afternoon that the Eagles decided to release guard Evan Mathis. The Pro Bowl guard had been a no-show for Eagles OTAs up until this point.
As the chatter began, Mathis’ teammate Cody Parkey joined Josh Innes and Tony Bruno and instantly had to address the news.
“I just heard,” Parkey said. “Evan was a great guy. He was always good to me. Hate to see another guy go, but obviously Chip has a plan for this team and we’re behind him 100 percent.”
Mathis joins a long list of starters that the Eagles have said goodbye to in the last two off-seasons.
