SOMETIMES, THE PAST can be an accurate barometer of the future and sometimes not.
The Eagles haven't selected a running back in the first round of the draft since 1986, when that sly fox Buddy Ryan took Keith Byars with the 10th overall pick, less than 24 hours after publicly calling him a "medical reject."
Some think that's reason enough to believe the Eagles would pass on Stanford running back Christian McCaffrey Thursday night if he happens to still be on the board at 14.
I'm not one of them.
McCaffrey and the Eagles would be a match made in heaven.
