The Philadelphia Eagles are releasing veteran safety and former special teams captain Chris Maragos, according to an official announcement from the team. The news was first reported by NFL insider Field Yates.
This development is a little curious because it was previously thought Maragos was going to be an unrestricted free agent when the new league year begins on March 13. There’s some thought that his contract may have tolled over into 2019 since he spent the entirety of the 2018 season on the reserve/physically unable to perform list.
Over the Cap lists Maragos contract as expiring in 2018 anyway.
