Charles Johnson, Eagles officially agree to contract

The Philadelphia Eagles are signing former Alliance of American Football wide receiver Charles Johnson, according to an official announcement from the team. The Eagles also confirmed the previously reported Luis Perez and Greg Ward Jr. signings.

I was tempted to put Johnson on last week’s list of AAF players who could interest the Eagles but I ultimately left him off because he’s 30 and he’s been on five different NFL teams since entering the NFL as a seventh-round pick in 2013.

Pro Football Focus graded Johnson — the AAF’s all-time leading receiver — as the best player at his position in the now defunct league.
