What Chip Kelly delivered to new kicker Caleb Sturgis this week wasn't really a vote of confidence. It was more of a shrug of resignation.
Sturgis kept his job for the time being, but Kelly didn't sound all that thrilled about it. Having just lost a game by three points on an afternoon in which Sturgis left four points on the field, Kelly wasn't expected to praise the guy who, only days before the game, won a tryout with five other unemployed kickers.
"We feel, in terms of what's available out there, we are going to stick with Caleb," Kelly said.
