The Eagles beat the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, 23-20, in the manner they have played most of this season: in a game that moved haltingly, with a performance that at times was excellent and at times made their limits plain and featured the requisite few plays that made everyone at Lincoln Financial Field shake his or her head in frustrated disbelief.
There was cornerback Byron Maxwell, giving Sammy Watkins, the Bills' marvelous wide receiver, so comfy a cushion off the line of scrimmage that you'd think Maxwell had a part-time job at Rent-A-Center. There was Sam Bradford, who played a smart and sharp game until late in the fourth quarter, when his brain locked just before the two-minute warning and he took a 15-yard sack.
