After releasing running back Jay Ajayi and placing cornerback Ronald Darby on injured reserve, the Philadelphia Eagles made some corresponding roster moves including promoting wide receiver Deontay Burnett from the practice squad.
With only three wide receivers on the active roster, the Eagles needed to promote someone from the practice squad for depth. While Deontay Burnett could just be thought of like a safety blanket, he could end up contributing in a big way if the Eagles find their way into the postseason.
With just one regular-season game left before what hopefully becomes a playoff run, not many people are expecting much from Burnett, but this might be perfect timing for his promotion.
