Philadelphia Eagles fans may want to pump the brakes just a little bit when it comes to welcoming former Seattle Seahawks cornerback Byron Maxwell to the City of Brotherly Love.
Maxwell has gone on the record himself to say that he's joining the Eagles, but his agent, Alvin Keels, took to Twitter to claim that nothing is etched in stone as of yet.
“A lot of chatter about Byron Maxwell to Philly,” Keels wrote. “Is Philly interested? Yes. Is Byron Maxwell interested in Philly? Yes. Is it official? No!”
This is likely just Keels covering his bases, seeing that Maxwell can't officially commit to the Eagles until Tuesday. Whatever it is, Keels is towing the company line to keep from drawing the ire of the NFL and their rules regarding free agency.
“As the agent I will arrange for a visit(s) when the rules permit us to do so,” Keels said. “Philly will be at the top of our list once that time comes.”
