While the Sixers try to dig their way out of an early-season hole, the front office has bigger fish to fry. It has to weigh which moves to make at the trade deadline (if any) despite not knowing what changes could be forthcoming in the league’s upcoming collective bargaining agreement.
The league’s current CBA runs through the 2023-24 season, but either the NBA or the National Basketball Players Association can opt out and have it end on June 30, 2023. The original deadline for that opt-out decision was Dec. 15, although the two sides “mutually agreed” on Wednesday to push it to Feb.
