PHILADELPHIA — The Sixers officially signed Marco Belinelli off waivers on Monday, and he suited up for a game against the Knicks.
Then, he never played.
For Sixers free agents, the times they are a-changing.
"Normally we shake somebody’s hand and start them," Sixers coach Brett Brown said. "The rules have changed. We’re in a different place nowadays."
Brown was, of course, referencing the oft-changing Sixers roster over the years — especially in years Sam Hinkie was running the show as general manager — that saw the organization shuffle through a multitude of players passing through on 10-day contracts and short-term deals, trying to find diamonds in the rough while the team lost at a historic rate, positioning itself for higher draft picks.
