Villanova's Hilliard happy he landed with Pistons

On the night of the NBA draft, Darrun Hilliard tried to find ways to distract himself as he waited for a call from an NBA team while spending time with his family in Bethlehem, Pa.

When the board game Trouble and the card game Uno didn't work, he went on a four-mile run.

"It's crazy that I was still working, even on draft day," the former Villanova star said. "I was just trying to keep my nerves down and my anxiety down."

Finally the call came about 11:30 p.m. The Detroit Pistons were on the line and with the 38th overall choice and eighth in the second round, they wanted the 6-foot-6 Hilliard, who averaged a team-high 14.
