Corey Sanders regressed this season, as under new head coach, Steve Pikiell, Sanders had to adopt a new style of play. Instead of looking for a shot, or slashing and finishing at the rim, Sanders was asked to be more of a pass-first point guard. This role didn’t suit Sanders, as he is a Dennis Smith-like guard, looking for the shot first, and pass second.
As a consequence of not freely finding his shots Sanders found it difficult to find his rhythm, as his three point percentage dropped from 31.5 percent in his freshman year to a poor 26.
