Team USA’s group stage had its fair share of drama, but much of it came from who wasn’t on the court. Jayson Tatum (along with Tyrese Haliburton) received a DNP-CD against Serbia in the opener, prompting Boston Celtics supporters to take to the digital streets in support of their guy. Tatum would go on to start the next two games, and in the second contest against South Sudan, it was Joel Embiid who was the lone Team USA member not to take the floor. Everyone played against Puerto Rico (barring Jrue Holiday who sat out with a minor ankle issue), so the hot take industry had to look elsewhere for a day.
