Sixers will probably be quiet during free-agency period

TODAY MARKS the beginning of free agency in the NBA, but it doesn't appear that the 76ers will be big players during the time. A source indicated that the team would do what it can to improve the team, but didn't expect it to be major players.

It was reported yesterday that Chicago Bulls restricted free agent Jimmy Butler did have an interview set up with several teams, including the Sixers, but canceled, once Chicago offered him a deal of $90 million over five years.

The Sixers did not extend an offer to swingman Glenn Robinson III, allowing him to become a free agent.
