Sixers waive Gerald Wallace

The 76ers made official what many expected to happen.

The franchise waived Gerald Wallace on Saturday, a league source confirmed. This move comes 57 days after the Sixers acquired the forward in a trade with the Golden State Warriors. The Sixers still owe the 33-year-old $10.1 million for what would have been the final year of his expiring contract.

As a result, the franchise has $22.1 million allocated to Wallace and JaVale McGee, players they cut. In March, the Sixers waived McGee with a year left on his contract. They’ll pay him $12 million this season.

The Sixers begin training camp at Stockton University on Tuesday.
