The Sixers hardly moved the needle this past summer during the free agency period. One of the main reasons why is because the organization did not have an acting general manager in place due to the resignation of Bryan Colangelo amidst controversy from his public critique of the team via secret Twitter accounts.
Head coach Brett Brown served as the interim GM and he expressed over the summer on draft night "we are star hunting, or we are star developing. That's how you win a championship."
The trade sends Robert Covington, Dario Saric, Jerryd Bayless, and the Sixers' 2022 second round pick to Minnesota, and Philadelphia will receive Jimmy Butler and Justin Patton which crystalizes the star hunting mantra for the organization.
