Sixers say Simmons has 'successful' surgery

AMHERST, MASS. – Ben Simmons' surgery was a success, according the 76ers.

The team announced that the Sixers first-overall pick underwent “successful” surgery on Tuesday in New York to repair an acute Jones fracture to the fifth metatarsal bone of his right foot.

The Sixers said there is no timetable for Simmons to return. However, sources have said that he will be sidelined around three months. Dr. Martin O’Malley, who performed the surgery, is an orthopaedic surgeon and fellowship director of the foot and ankle service at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. Sixers team doctor Jonathan Glashow assisted in the surgery.
