Sixers Reportedly Release Rights to Forward Kazemi

Earlier this evening, Philly.com writer, and Sixers insider Keith Pompey reported that the Sixers have waived their rights to Iranian forward Arsalan Kazemi. Taken in the second round back in 2013, Kazemi played the past two seasons overseas, and was a part of the 76er’s Summer league roster this past July. He is the first person to ever be drafted from Iran, and has been most noted for his hustle play, and rebounding. He averaged 3.2 points per game, and 7.6 rebounds in 5 Las Vegas Summer games.

Kazemi’s release came after he found out he had the opportunity to tryout for the Atlanta Hawks at their camp in what may be his last chance to make an NBA roster.
