It feels like forever ago that Ish Smith and a choppy Skype feed of Jerry Colangelo lifted the Sixers from the doldrums of suckitude to the comfortable plateau of mediocrity. After opening the year with a 1-30 record, the team got a shot in the arm from Smith after trading for the veteran point guard on Christmas Eve. The Sixers rattled off six wins over their next 15 games, causing some of us to ponder aloud whether the team had become too good to successfully carry out the remainder of its (hopefully) final year of tanking. Those of us who had that thought, myself included, are feeling pretty stupid now.
