SO FAR, the 76ers have been minor participants in free agency, landing combo guard Jarreyd Bayless for a $27 million over three years and and Sunday getting 30-year-old point guard Sergio Rodriguez for a reported one-year, $8 million deal.
The 6-3, 180-pound Rodriguez played the past five seasons with Real Madrid after being drafted by Phoenix in 2006. A four-year stint in the NBA produced averages of 4.3 points and 2.9 assists. Whether president of basketball operations Bryan Colangelo pulls the trigger on anything else in the coming days remains to be seen, but it seems most likely that anybody else acquired via free agency will be a second- or third-tier type of player such as Bayless and Rodriguez, certainly not much of a difference maker for the organization moving forward.
