76ers president Bryan Colangelo will watch Furkan Korkmaz play in the Basketball Champions League final four on Friday and Sunday in Tenerife, Spain. The Sixers selected Korkmaz with the 26th overall pick in the 2016 draft.
At the time, the Turkish player couldn’t afford the $2 million buyout from his contract with Anadolu Efes of the Turkish Super Basketball League. NBA teams are allowed to pay only up to $650,000 toward a buyout. The 6-foot-8, 198-pounder will be under contract with Efes for the 2017-18 season. However, a buyout could be more doable.
Right now, he’s on loan from Efes to play for Banvit, another Turkish team.
