NEW ORLEANS – The Sixers hope that JaKarr Sampson clears waivers around 5 p.m. Sunday and returns to the team.
But coach Brett Brown realizes there are no guarantees. He wouldn’t be shocked if another NBA team snags the hard-nosed, defensive-minded guard they waived Thursday evening to make room for Joel Anthony.
The Sixers picked up Anthony, a former Detroit Pistons center, and a 2017 second-round pick in a three-team trade with the Pistons and Houston Rockets. The team is expected to waive Anthony with a chance at reuniting with Sampson.
“Maybe we will see him, again,” Brown said of Sampson at Friday’s shootaround.
