When the season began, many fans felt that the Philadelphia 76ers had whiffed at an opportunity to anchor the point guard position on the team. Last season’s candidate, Ish Smith, was not retained, and the off-season began with an open competition for a shot at the roster and the starting role. Tony Wroten, Isaiah Canaan, Scott Wilbekin, Pierre Jackson, Kendall Marshall, T.J. McConnell all had a turn. Some didn’t make the final roster, while some made the team but are buried deep into rotations so far they don’t make much of an impact on a game by game basis.
