The D-League single-game scoring record went down in flames Wednesday night.
Former Louisville guard Russ Smith was to thank.
Smith, now playing for the Delaware 87ers, poured in 65 points on a whopping 24-of-42 night from the field. The scoring outburst didn't help the 87ers win -- the Canton Charge took those honors, 140-129 -- but it was enough to etch Smith's name in the league's record books.
Jordan McRae, the former Tennessee standout, set the old mark in January with 61 points, also for Delaware.
Smith made just one 3-pointer (in five attempts) in 44 minutes against Canton, instead working his way to 65 behind 16 free throws (on 20 attempts), a host of layups (32 points off them) and several midrange jumpers.
