The (presumably) last domino to fall in Elton Brand’s plan to overhaul the Sixers roster dropped shortly before Thursday’s trade deadline.
That’s right. The weirdest saga in recent NBA history is over, or at least taking its act down to Orlando (maybe it can get residency at one of the Disney theme parks). Less than two years after Philadelphia traded significant draft capital to take Markelle Fultz with the first overall pick in the 2017 NBA draft, the still-just-20-year-old guard is heading to the Magic for a package centered around 6-foot-6 wing Jonathon Simmons.
First off, the Oklahoma City first-rounder is the top-20 protected pick they first acquired by trading away Jerami Grant, then sent away in the Anzejs Pasecniks deal, which is a hilarious “snake eating its own tail” way to bring the last few years of Sixers transactions full circle.
