A former standout basketball player at Missouri, Phil Pressey was elated to learn of Mizzou president Timothy M. Wolfe’s resignation Monday after a wave of student and faculty protest over racial tensions.
One of the things that made the 76ers reserve point guard proud was the football team’s role in the president’s resignation. At least 30 black players announced on Saturday that they would not play until student Jonathan Butler ended his hunger strike. Butler stopped eating on Nov. 2 and vowed to not eat again until Wolfe was out of office.
“That’s big time,” Pressey said of the football players.
