IT WAS SOMETIME during the 1967-68 basketball season and Jim Murray received a phone call from Harvey Pollack at about 5 o'clock.
"Can you make it down to the game and help me out with some stats?" Pollack asked of his co-worker at the Philadelphia Department of Recreation.
"Sure," said Murray. "I'll be right down."
Murray, now 76, has worked stats for the 76ers ever since.
Ron Pollack was 10 when he started working games with his father.
"I started coming when I was 10, which was 59 years ago," he said. "My job was to run the copy to Western Union.
