Philadelphia 76ers to sign Greg Monroe, waive Justin Patton

The Justin Patton experience is coming to an end. The Philadelphia 76ers are signing veteran center Greg Monroe, according to ESPN’s Jordan Schultz, giving Brett Brown another candidate to steal minutes behind Joel Embiid in the postseason.

While poor depth is a concern for the Sixers, the center position has never been a huge issue. Embiid will command most of those minutes in the postseason, while Ben Simmons and Mike Scott are capable small-ball fives when the moments arise.

In addition to those three, the Sixers have cycled through Boban Marjanovic, Amir Johnson and Jonah Bolden in recent weeks, with all three making a semi-compelling case for minutes.
