After playing in the All-Star Game a couple weeks ago, Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid was diagnosed with knee soreness and slated to miss approximately a week of action. His absence will continue in Thursday’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
According to reports, Embiid is receiving treatment and will be re-evaluated before Saturday, keeping him out of Thursday’s highly-anticipated matchup — a matchup that will now lack the entertaining Embiid-Russell Westbrook dynamic.
It also puts the Sixers in a difficult situation. While there’s enough talent to compete with good teams sans Embiid, it’s tough to match the depth and firepower of elite teams.
