Wednesday night’s win over the Minnesota Timberwolves was underscored by a brawl of considerable magnitude between Joel Embiid and Karl-Anthony Towns. Upon further review, some have roped Ben Simmons — who attempted to play peacemaker by pinning Towns to the ground — into the mix.
Suspensions are inevitable. Towns, who instigated the fight, will get time. Embiid, who was a thorough and willing participant in the fight, will also get time. Varying degrees of time, perhaps, but that has yet to be decided. There’s even a chance Simmons gets time.
The Philadelphia 76ers were quick to come to Embiid’s defense, with GM Elton Brand emphasizing KAT’s perceived role as an instigator.
