Brett Brown has been splitting time between coach and GM this summer, a role he has faired pleasantly well in. His draft night trade for Zhaire Smith was a heist, while Wilson Chandler and Mike Muscala are useful short-term stopgaps.
With that said, the historical track record for coaches in GM roles is less than ideal. The Philadelphia 76ers need to bring in a new GM at some point, and it appears that ownership is finally taking steps in the right direction.
It was announced last week that the Sixers would interview three candidates for the job: Gersson Rosas from the Rockets, Justin Zanik from the Jazz and Larry Harris from the Warriors.
