J.J. Redick left the Philadelphia 76ers on the first day of free agency, signing a two-year, $26.5 million contract with the New Orleans Pelicans. It ends a two-year stint in which he averaged 17.6 points on 40.7 percent 3-point shooting for the Sixers — setting his career-high marks in scoring both seasons.
Here are three reasons why losing Redick hurts.
1. 3-point shooting
The Sixers will miss J.J Redick this season a ton because of his ability to create his own shot off the catch and the dribble. Over his career, Redick has the eighth-best 3-point percentage among active players at 41 percent and is 12th in field goals made.
